Mac Jones was the highest-rated quarterback heading into this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl week, and it appears he’ll leave Mobile with that status intact.

Jones took his game to another level in Wednesday’s second of three practices. ESPN analyst Louis Riddick tweeted that Jones “could not have had a better day than he did today at Senior Bowl practice. Total command of every play he participated in, and threw the ball with exceptional accuracy.”

Jones temporarily moved to Mobile earlier this month to work on draft preparation with QB Country’s David Morris, a noted quarterback trainer who has worked with the likes of AJ McCarron, Daniel Jones, Gardner Minshew, Jake Bentley and Jake Fromm. Morris said in addition to accuracy, Jones is one of the most-prepared quarterbacks he’s ever spent time around.

Jones kept a three-ring binder with notes on every team Alabama faced this year, Morris said. In addition to his accuracy and competitiveness, it’s that pre-game work that sets Jones apart, Morris said.

“He has a great understanding of time and anticipation,” Morris said earlier this week on Mobile’s SportsTalk 99.5 FM. “He has a great understanding of when to throw it and why, pre-snap reads are going to be something that makes a lot of sense to him. He can understand tendencies because he watches so much film. His ability to play quarterback on time and play confidently is something that stands out to me.”
