Stetson Bennett appears back in the saddle in Texas, training with noted coach Landry Klann at QB Country in Dallas. A video of Bennett throwing a sharp curl route surfaced on Thursday night that’s sure to rekindle the best kind of memories for Georgia football fans. Klann has more video of Bennett and the other quarterbacks training with him posted on his Instagram account. In addition to Bennett, other quarterbacks preparing for the NFL Draft at QB Country include:
• Holton Ahlers, East Carolina
• Lindsey Scott, Incarnate Word
• Austin Aune, North Texas
• Chris Reynolds, Charlotte
Bennett helped lead the Bulldogs to consecutive national championships in 2021 and 2022, winning Offensive MVP honors in the 33-18 and 65-7 CFP Championship Game wins over Alabama and TCU. Bennett was also the 2022 Manning Award and Burlsworth Trophy winner, along with being one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy after the SEC Coaches voted him second-team All-SEC. The next stop for Bennett after QB Country will be the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, where he will compete with other professional quarterback hopefuls in a series of drills and throwing the football.
Bennett’s speed and quickness are attributes more NFL teams are looking for, as there are more spread offenses than ever at the next level. Bennett also improved his mechanics from his junior to senior seasons, and it’s a safe bet the work he’s getting in with Klann will make his throws even sharper with more velocity.
Several league teams feature the sort of mobile quarterbacks that Bennett might prove to be an ideal backup for, as coaches and general managers have surely noted the upside he has shown in big-game moments.
Bennett will be one of 12 Georgia players appearing at the NFL Combine, which begins on Feb. 28 and runs through March 6.
