QB Country to bring world-class quarterback training to New Jersey with launch of QB Country New Jersey at The ANNEX

The nation’s leading quarterback development and training company is coming to the New York area. QB Country, with ten locations across the Southeast and a roster of trainees that includes New York Giants quarterbacks Eli Manning and Daniel Jones, will launch QB Country New Jersey this January in Chatham, NJ. The new location is a partnership with The ANNEX Sports Performance Center, one of the premier overhead throwing training centers on the east coast. QB Country New Jersey will specialize in skill training, arm care and serve as a laboratory for best practices in quarterback performance and development for high school, college and pro quarterbacks.

QB Country New Jersey will initially offer a winter/early offseason program for quarterbacks in January and February. Training will begin with a comprehensive athlete assessment and feature two 90-minute training sessions per week focused on arm care, rotational and core exercises and field work (footwork, mechanics and throwing). A spring phase will follow and build on these foundations, with an increase in throwing volume. The program is open to quarterbacks in grades eight and up. The partnership between QB Country and The ANNEX is the result of a relationship between QB Country founder David Morris and Annex founder Mickey Brueckner. The two met through training their mutual client, Eli Manning. (Morris and Manning are longtime friends and former college teammates at Ole Miss.)

“We’ve always wanted to create more mainstream arm care, hip mobility and overhead athlete training programs with quarterbacks,” said Morris. “Mickey and his ANNEX team are leaders in this area and have had great success with major league pitchers and now guys like Eli — keeping them healthy, strong and successful for the long haul. There is a lot of crossover in our work and the science behind it. This is a unique opportunity to bring the best of what we both do to quarterbacks in the northeast.”

QB Country New Jersey training will take place at The ANNEX in Chatham. The facility features a professional strength training center and indoor turf field.

“We are excited to bring QB Country’s world-class quarterback training programs to New Jersey,” said Brueckner, who was featured in recent coverage on his work with Manning. “For quarterbacks in the region, this is a dream come true. They’ll be part of a new standard in quarterback training. They’ll become better athletes and throwers. They’ll see significant improvement in every facet of their game.”

Over the last six years, more than 140 QB Country-trained high school quarterbacks have signed college scholarships. Last year, the nation’s FBS and FCS passing leaders (Gardner Minshew/Washington State and Devlin Hodges/Samford) were both QB Country trainees. Both are now NFL starters. QB Country boasts six picks in the last six NFL drafts, including first-rounder Daniel Jones (#6 pick), and five NFL starters over the past two seasons. Since 2011, QB Country quarterbacks have won three FBS National Championships. A record total of nine QB Country quarterbacks started FBS bowl games last season.

The ANNEX has a long track record of training successful athletes, including Manning and Boston Red Sox star and 2016 CY Young winner Rick Porcello. Hundreds of high school all-state and college All-American honorees, pro athletes and Olympians in a variety of sports have called The ANNEX home for their strength, speed and agility training programs.

“Quarterbacks will see improvements in footwork, accuracy and arm strength, as well as the mental aspects of playing quarterback,” said Morris. “Training with QB Country New Jersey will lead to playing more confident with a deeper understanding and greater command of the position.”
