QB Country Quarterbacks continue to have MAJOR success in the Recruiting World!
After having 19 QB’s sign scholarships in the 2015 Class, the QB Country C/O 2016, 2017 & 2018 looks to Continue the momentum. “The Recruitment of our Quarterbacks is not why we love what we do. We value more the work and path it takes in contributing to get them to that point. But we love being a part of our Quarterbacks dreams coming true” stated QB Country founder David Morris. Morris, who started QB training in 2003 as a part time gig, now operates 8 QB Country locations across the Southeast. Recruiting is something Morris takes seriously because in large part the QB Country Coaching staff is comprised of guys that got over looked themselves…including Morris. “I walked on at Ole Miss and it was the best decision of my life. But it was hard. I led the State of Alabama in passing as a Junior in high school. Because I was a late developer, I only had D-1AA offers. My dream was to play in the SEC. So I did it. I walked on and became the 2nd string QB as a true freshman and got a scholarship. It worked out. It was the right thing to do. But I always wondered what would have happened if I really knew how to get recruited.” That experience, as well as the experiences of guys like Jordan Rodgers, Alex Williams, Thomas Morris and Ben Neill (all QB Country coaches) all helped feed QB Country’s itch to really help kids. Morris lights up when he talks about the C/O 2016. “The 2016 class is full of leaders…guys that have started a lot of games. Guys that have won State Championships. Several guys that they themselves have been over looked. There are guys like Jack Abraham from Oxford HS (Ms) who is committed to Tulane, who I believe is the 1 of the best pure passers in America. Guys like Tyler Johnston who is one of the best Football players in the State of Alabama. Guys like Miller Mosley who just led St. Paul’s to a Alabama 5A State Championship and is committed to Air Force. You have Tate HS (Fla) QB Sawyer Smith who has an offer from every SEC school for baseball but he’s committed to UCF to play QB.”
The 2016 class is not the only reason Morris is excited! “When you look at our pipeline you see a bunch of skilled Quarterbacks. Talent is one thing, but we’re more than about ‘talent’. We are trying to develop intelligent, skilled QB’s! Talent is God given. Skill is acquired over a period of time! When you look across the NFL, sure there is a lot of talent at QB. But you also see a lot of very skilled, intelligent, tough blue collar workers! To me, being ‘special’ is a mixture of leadership, toughness, talent and skill. We have a lot of those guys around the Southeast!” QB Country training isn’t a short term relationship. “We’ve been training most of these kids for 2-5 years! That means a lot to us! The relationship means a lot to us.”
Morris also believes he has a Coaching Staff second to none with experience both Coaching and playing at the highest level. “To be able to have a guy like Charlie Taaffe (Taaffe runs QB Country Orlando) on staff who has been a College Football & Canadian Football Head Coach is a huge asset to our Company but more so our kids. He and Coach Greg Gregory (Heads QB Country Virginia & is a former OC/QB Coach at USF, USA, Richmond, etc.) have been through the recruiting process for almost 60 years combined. That experience alongside the youth on Staff who recently went through the recruiting process is what makes QB Country unique.”
