The 6-foot-4, 217-pound West, rated a four-star prospect and the No. 7 senior prospect in the state according to the 247 composite rankings, took advantage of the NCAA’s first early signing period for football. However, since Stanford does not accept early enroleels as most colleges do now, he will remain a Spartan for the last of the school year.

“I’ll just spend my time preparing, doing whatever they need me to do to get better, to prepare my body for what is to come,” said West, who officially signed at a ceremony in the school library. “I want to be ready the minute I step on campus to do what they need me to do.”

He said he would continue to work with his private coach, David Morris at QB Country. “We’ll hit it hard as we get closer and closer to heading out to California,” West said.
