The Alabama 5A State Championship game is a match up of 2 QB Country trained Quarterbacks…a trend that is repeating itself.

“State Champs”!  That’s what every player dreams of saying at the end of the season. QB Country will have 11 starting QB’s in 4 States (Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Iowa) battling for just that over the next week.

In Iowa, QB Kurt Walding led Dowling High School to a State Championship over Cedar Rapids Kennedy while earning MVP of the game.

In Alabama we’ve already had a QB Country showdown for the 3A AISA title. Logan Burnett led Bessemer Academy to a 34-6 win over a Griffin McKenzie led Monroe Academy.

In 5A, we have another QB Country showdown. Air Force commit Miller Mosley will lead St. Pauls against Duncan Hodges and Mortimer Jordan. Miller led St. Pauls to a State Championship last season and is looking to repeat. Duncan has had a huge Senior year with 2,652 passing yard & 24 TD’s while rushing for 725 and 12 TD’s.

2016 QB Kurt Walding led Dowling Catholic to it’s 3rd straight State Title. Kurt was named the game’s MVP.

In 6A, UAB commit & 2013 State Champ, Tyler Johnston will look to lead Spanish Fort into another State Championship game. Tyler is one of the best to ever come out of Alabama and is 34-0 as the starter. He has accounted for 10,593 total yards and 125 TDs during his High School career, despite missing 9 games last year with a torn ACL.

In 7A, Senior QB Joey Beatty will lead Spain Park to a tough battle against McGill-Toolen Catholic.  This is both schools 1st trip to the State Championship game. Every QB on McGill’s roster has at some point trained with QB Country.  They are starter Paris Chambers, back ups Bubba Smith, Turner McLaughlin, Sheldon Laymon and Sam Satterwhite.

In 4A, West Alabama commit QB Drew Guy will lead Fayette Country to State as they take on Leeds. Drew has had a record breaking year, throwing for more than 3,000 yards but still wants more. Good luck to Drew!

In Mississippi, Jack Abraham looks to lead the 5A Oxford Chargers to a State Title. Jack will go down as one of the best QB’s to ever come out of Mississippi, with career stats totaling 11,471 yards, 126 TDs and only 27 INTs. Good luck to Jack and the Oxford Chargers!

Sophomore QB Blake Porter will lead Resurrection Catholic School (RCS) to try and capture the 1A State Title. The Eagles are unbeaten so far, and Blake has been an instrumental part of their historic season!

In Florida, Troy commit, Sawyer Smith will take Tate High School into the Semi’s on Friday.
